SUPPORT THE THEATRE OF TOMORROW
The Old Vic is a gateway to a world of creative, social and employment opportunities in the theatre – leading the way for the next generation of theatre-goers and theatre-makers, as it has done for over 200 years.
Each of the theatre’s creative learning, artistic development and community projects can be donated to independently or can be supported collectively via the Impact Fund. Support of the Fund is an investment with a social dividend, making great theatre available to all.
Some of our projects:
Schools Club is a flagship programme of The Old Vic that has run since 2009. 40 state secondary schools and up to 1,200 students per year are invited free of charge to enjoy tickets and bespoke pre-show workshops around the mainstage shows, creating a sustained engagement with theatre for those who may otherwise not have the opportunity to participate.
Front Line also offers a creative practitioner training programme for young people aged 18–25. The 10-week programme offers advanced hands-on experience in creative facilitation, allowing participants to develop key transferable skills as they prepare to lead their own workshops at the end of the programme.
An exciting year-long, paid attachment to The Old Vic for a young director in the early stages of their professional career. The role includes directing a production and receiving a fund to commission a new piece of work, using The Old Vic’s resources to research and develop their own projects alongside their Old Vic work.
As part of The Old Vic’s commitment to boosting employability and supporting social mobility, Take the Lead offers young people aged 16–18 high quality workshops that use theatre techniques to build on five core employability skills: communication, self-management, self-belief, teamwork and problem solving. Young people explore these skills through creative workshops, special events and a digital learning platform, and develop a toolkit of transferable skills that empower them to take ownership over their next steps after school, whatever those steps may be.
