Introduction
Welcome to our Introduction to Puppetry workshop. This workshop was written by puppet maker and performer Maia Kirkman-Richards and director Eduard Lewis. Over the course of this workshop, you will have the chance to create your own prototype rehearsal puppet and bring it to life. You will also have a go at creating a scene for your puppet inspired by a classic fairytale.
Before we begin you will need a few resources to take part in this workshop. You will need a pen or pencil and a notebook to write down your ideas, three sheets of scrap paper or an old newspaper, and masking tape.
This workshop is broken down into sections so you can complete it in your own time and at your own pace. If you get stuck and need any assistance you can contact us at education@oldvictheatre.com. Remember, this workshop isn’t about getting things right – it’s about your artistic ideas. Good luck, and have fun.
