Task

Create your own workshop plan (no longer than two hours in length) using a play, tv show, film, book, computer game or any other work of art as a starting point. In addition:

  • Decide on your aims for the workshop
  • Choose a warm up
  • Choose a skill-builder exercise
  • Decide on what your main activity will be
  • Decide how you would like to end your workshop

If useful refer back to the Make your plan section from the Introduction to Facilitation course.

If you are stuck for games or activities, we recommend that you look at the Games and activities section from the Introduction to Facilitation course or our Inside Guide to Facilitation resource pack for inspiration.

Task

Once your plan is complete, try answering the questions from the previous exercise again but this time referring to your own plan. When you have answered these questions feel free to make amends or adjustments to your workshop plan if required.

  • What would someone take away from taking part in this workshop?
  • Why were the warm up and skills exercises chosen?
  • If you could remove an exercise from the plan, which one would you choose?
  • What do you think would be the most challenging thing to lead?
  • What would the atmosphere be like in the room if this workshop was led really brilliantly?
