We believe theatre makes the world better
We do what we do to enable anyone to experience, make and benefit from theatre. The Old Vic is for anyone, and always will be. For generations to come.
OUR MISSION AND VALUES
We entertain and we educate. We’re so much more than the work we do on stage. We’re about creative excellence and social good. We run free programmes for engagement, education, employment and social mobility – and we’d love you to join in. All our programmes are free to attend, and they always will be.
BELONGING AND INCLUSION
At The Old Vic, we want to instil a sense of belonging and a culture of fairness for all those who engage with us.
WORK WITH US
We’re all custodians of The Old Vic and part of its story. We’re mindful of our responsibility to the theatre, the people within it and the world around us. So, we work attentively, here to leave each thing better than we found it, for us and for the next generation.
The Backstage Building
Be part of the journey as we embark on a new project to create a space for our generation and the next – a six-storey building for creativity, education and community.
MORE ABOUT US
We’ve been around for a while. The Old Vic was the original home of the English National Opera, the Sadler’s Wells dance company and the National Theatre. It’s also been a tavern, a college, a coffee house, a lecture hall and a meeting place. Discover more about the stories that made us the theatre we are today.
